Commercial Description:
JW Dundee’s American Amber Lager has a complex malt character that is masterfully balanced by a distinct American Hop aroma and flavor. We use 5 different malts to create the complex malt flavor in this beer. We start with our 2 Row Pale Malt as our base and then add 4 different types of Crystal Malts. It is the combination of the four Crystal malts that define the complexity of the beer. Although the malt is showcased in this beer, the hops play an important part in the balance of flavors. We use Simcoe, Cascade, and Magnum hops to create the hop profile that balances the complex malt character. This balance creates a beer that has great depth of flavor while still being very drinkable. JW Dundee’s Amber Lager is flavorful enough to satisfy craft beer drinkers yet is still accessible to those looking to find a beer with a little more character than their normal beer.

[draft at MacGregor’s - Henrietta, NY] Nice golden color with a very creamy looking tan head. Very light and sweet aroma of malts mixed with the slightest touch of hops. The flavor is a little off however. Very lightly carbonated with sour and sweet notes throughout. Some sweet flavors mixed with nuts and malt in the end. Nothing special.

Pours a reddish amber with a small head. Smells of malt and nuts. Mostly sweet malt in the flavor with some dry hops in the finish. Nothing too great.

Poured orange/brown with a fairly thin white head. Very mild malt aroma and not much else. This seemed to be more watewry than other JW Dundee’s beers. Slight butter flavor. Finish was thin and unexciting.

Had this one bottled. Clear, dark copper color, somewhat bubbly, thin white head, slightly sweet nose like caramel. Actually, a fairly good beer for a lager. Lots of different malts in this one -- I taste distinct apple and chocolate, with hints of flowers. Impressive product from an underrated brewery.

Bottle: Orangish amber, large off-white head, lattice like lacing, moderate carbonation, looks decent enough.   Very mild malt aroma, slight diacytl.   Extremely pale malt flavor, but the body and mouthfeel aren’t as weak as I had thought.   Boring finish, any flavor falls off quickly except for a very light toasted malt that lingers.   Not very interesting, but not bad.   Its a summer heat pounder of sorts.

Pour is clear amber with a thin tan head...smell is a little sweet with some caramel and cookie notes...taste is very very bland and unoffensive...not a whole lot of any flavors going on...some toasty notes toward the grainy finish...

12 oz bottle from one of the "8 packs". Nice enough looking lager, amber with a small tight bubbly off white head. Leaves attractive laceing. smellis rather average for style maybe a wee bit more maltier than the usual of the species. Again you can taste the malts in this lager..slightly sweet, after wards there is a nice hoppy flavour and a long lasting after taste. Average on the palte ..tending towards the "watery". Average drinkability..this is ok, but not one I would rush out and buy.
