Commercial Description:
JW Dundee’s American Amber Lager has a complex malt character that is masterfully balanced by a distinct American Hop aroma and flavor. We use 5 different malts to create the complex malt flavor in this beer. We start with our 2 Row Pale Malt as our base and then add 4 different types of Crystal Malts. It is the combination of the four Crystal malts that define the complexity of the beer. Although the malt is showcased in this beer, the hops play an important part in the balance of flavors. We use Simcoe, Cascade, and Magnum hops to create the hop profile that balances the complex malt character. This balance creates a beer that has great depth of flavor while still being very drinkable. JW Dundee’s Amber Lager is flavorful enough to satisfy craft beer drinkers yet is still accessible to those looking to find a beer with a little more character than their normal beer.

A nice copper body with an off white head. The aroma is apple core with some sharp caramel and oak. The taste is toffee and some iced tea along with a little bit of green beans. This is nicely made and would be a good stepping stone for those just getting into good beer.

Bottle poured dark amber with a smallish head. Aroma of malt and light hops. Flavor is light hops and malt with a nice spice finish.

Amber nut pour, caramel aroma, flavor, and sticky body. Mouthfeel heavy for style and for the light hop/malt content. Typical, not worth seeking out.

Pours light nut brown to bronze with an average light brown head that mostly dissipates. Fragrant caramel malt aroma with hop notes and some brown sugar traces. Smooth malty start with a dry hoppy finish and a lingering dryness. Smooth feel on the palate with a medium body.

Small foamy white head that dissappears rather quickly. Faint roasted malt flavor and aroma with more pronounced hops than a typical lager. Not bad overall.

Not as impressive as their APA but not bad either. This one is a little too bland with no outstanding characteristics. Still pretty good for the price though.

Clear orange amber. Small off-white head with some slight lacing. Grainy, bread nose. Slight caramel/toffee, cereal, light body, cheap, gross grain, watery flavor, some very very faint, stale, and dirty hops, and tons of stale cardboard. Not bad for a big gross brewery, but this doesnt do anything to excite me.

Bottle. Hmmmm. Amber body with a foamy head. First flavor to come out is honey, caramel, slight bitterness. Odd flavor. Bad aftertaste. Very slightly sub-average beer. Something about this a’int right...
