Commercial Description:
JW Dundee’s American Amber Lager has a complex malt character that is masterfully balanced by a distinct American Hop aroma and flavor. We use 5 different malts to create the complex malt flavor in this beer. We start with our 2 Row Pale Malt as our base and then add 4 different types of Crystal Malts. It is the combination of the four Crystal malts that define the complexity of the beer. Although the malt is showcased in this beer, the hops play an important part in the balance of flavors. We use Simcoe, Cascade, and Magnum hops to create the hop profile that balances the complex malt character. This balance creates a beer that has great depth of flavor while still being very drinkable. JW Dundee’s Amber Lager is flavorful enough to satisfy craft beer drinkers yet is still accessible to those looking to find a beer with a little more character than their normal beer.

Rate it for what it is...an American lager from a macro brewery. Toffee and carmel, decent balance...good lace. Puts the other macro American lagers further in the toilet. I salute them for a decent effort...

This beer sucks it pretty hard. By "Sucks it", I mean that it has a stale cardboard taste that drives me nuts. It has no hops at all. At all!!! Damn it. The malt side leaves a lot to be desired unless you have been pounding pbmcs for the last week. You can do a lot better, but you would be hard-pressed to find a can that can beat this.

12 oz bottle, Whip In Liquors, Austin, Tx. Dark copper color, thin, off-white head, light lacing. Aroma has some sweet caramel accents. Flavor has caramel notes with some good solid bitter accents with some toffee accents. Mouthfeel is decent enough, fairly thick for a lager. Very pleasant to say the least and I was pleasantly suprised.

Looks the same as the honey brown and pale -- only difference is a little, wee bit more hops present. Not offensive; I’m sure it would work well for a frat boy’s chugging contest...

This beer comes across as odd, very different tasting from any other beer I’ve tried. There’s a nice bit of bitter hops flavour. However, it leaves me with an unpleasant (sort of sour) aftertaste which I do not care for. I also find the aroma to be unpleasant. I can’t say this beer is boring or bland, but I don’t think it’s very good.

Pours a three-fingered white head that fades slowly leaving a good lace. Clear deep amber color. Sweet malty nose, Medium carbonation and light-medium bodied. Starts and finshes with a good malt/hop balance unusual for an amber but as the brewer claims it to be. $1.25 for a 12oz bottle from Northend Superette Manchester, NH.
