Commercial Description:
JW Dundee’s American Amber Lager has a complex malt character that is masterfully balanced by a distinct American Hop aroma and flavor. We use 5 different malts to create the complex malt flavor in this beer. We start with our 2 Row Pale Malt as our base and then add 4 different types of Crystal Malts. It is the combination of the four Crystal malts that define the complexity of the beer. Although the malt is showcased in this beer, the hops play an important part in the balance of flavors. We use Simcoe, Cascade, and Magnum hops to create the hop profile that balances the complex malt character. This balance creates a beer that has great depth of flavor while still being very drinkable. JW Dundee’s Amber Lager is flavorful enough to satisfy craft beer drinkers yet is still accessible to those looking to find a beer with a little more character than their normal beer.

12oz bottle-pours a rich off white head and amber/copper color. Aroma is medium malt, tea-herbal, some spice. Taste is medium malt-caramel, tea-herbal, some spice hops. Some metallic tannins distract from beer that seems to be a cross of an Irish/American amber. Soft carbonation.

Amber color (surprise); small, white, frothy head that stays and leaves lots of lacing. Aroma very bready with hops and orange; light caramel. Flavor also bready with a hint of citrus; sweet; surprisingly bitter finish, almost wheaty and just a tiny touch metallic. Medium sticky; medium-light body. Pleasant surprise.

Crystal clear amber with good off-white head. Malty aroma and a nutty, bready flavor. Slightly bitter finish. Good amber

12 oz. bottle poured into shaker- poured transparent light amber brownish color, aroma of slightly roasted malt and some floral notes. White head came and went, no lacing, medium carbonation. HIts the mouth with a defined high-thin body, the malt has an almost dull sweetness, finish has a slight bitterness to it. A dust like quality gets left on your teeth after the swallow, and that’s just bad for me (poor and/or careless brewing?). 2 bad ones in a row- dang!!!

Pours a transparent reddish brown with a very small head. Aroma of malt and not much else. Flavor is sweet malt, caramel, a touch of hops. My 2nd favorite Dundees beer behind honey brown.

Bottle pour to Sam Adams Perfect Beer glass. Nice thick head, little lacing. Pours a very pretty mahogany red color. A slightly hoppy aroma with small floral notes. Tastes slightly dusty (in a good way) and the malt sweetness is present from beginning to end. Little hop flavor and maybe some honey or citrus thrown in? Slightly dry aftertaste. Light mouthfeel. Seems like "JW Dundee’s Honey Brown’s" little brother. Good, not geat.

BOTTLE: Craft Pack sampler. Not the best beer in this sampler, but not bad at all. At $4 a case less than Saranac, that’s quite a compliment. Malty aroma and taste is somewhat doughy, but grows on you. Almost medium body a bit creamy and not-too-agressive carbonation make it a pleasant drinker. Not much of a finish to speak of. BUY AGAIN? Sure. This whole Sampler pack is an exceptional value in almost-craft beers.

Pours copper with a 1/2 inch head lasting all of 60 seconds. Smells like nut and malt. Tastes malty, and metallic. Finishes a little heavy. Not my favorite nutty brown american brown-like lager.
