Commercial Description:
Bottled, Regular.
J.W.Lees Brewers Dark continues to be in great demand, despite the downward trend in mild sales. It is a smooth well-rounded light coloured mild with a malty and fruity aroma. The taste is distinctive with a smooth sweet flavour and a dry malty aftertaste.

Bottle from Morrisons, Banbury, Oxon, consumed 17-11-09 Pours dark brown with not much head that I noticed. Aroma is thin and barely noticeable but what I did get is a sort of clinical swimming pool water waft from this, possibly edging towards chlorine, anyway it was a touch chemically although I hasten to add I did get some beery aroma also with a touch of roast malts. Taste is malty but very thin, some burnt tastes, but this is just so thin and devoid of taste its really quite forgettable, couldn’t finish it and maybe just maybe I had a dodgy bottle whatever it really isn’t a beer that I will return to. Dark, almost black with a malty aroma.Lots of body for a low strength beer. No real aftertaste but still quite impressive for a little one.

Bottled, 500ml, pasteurised from Morrisons in Banbury. Dark chestnut with cream head. Low ABV Milds in the bottle tend to disappoint, but this was actually not too bad. There is a thinnish treacley, burnt flavour, some caramelisation and a touch of woodland fruit. Not mouthcoating but fairly sweet, then a slightly damp paper finish. It’s reasonable for what it is.

Bottle, from Morrisons in Grimsby. Deep red-black, thin but lasting beige head and moderate condition. Pleasant burnt treacle and sweet liquorice notes in the nose, quite thin and fruity-tangy in the mouth with a dry chalkiness and a suggestion of burnt toast, muted chalky finish with a touch of fruitiness.
