Golden color, small steady creamy off-white head. Lemony hoppy, metallic nose. Quite sweetish malty, slightly buttery, Zatec-grassy hoppy flavor.

Golden coloured, small white head, odd floral metallic nose. Malty, flowery and hoppy taste with notes of butterscotch and bread. Some lemon acidity in the finish. oh6gdx (6343), Vaasa, Finland Jul 8, 2008 Draught. Deep golden colour with mediumsized white head. Aroma is malts, hops, mild yeast and some earth. Flavour is quite much the same along with a big dry grassy finish. omhper (10728), Stockholm, Sweden Jul 1, 2008 Draught at U Klokočnika, Prague. Clear deep golden, small head. Dryish with clean, rounded mouthfeel. Lovely dense bready malt well complimented by an abundance of saaz hops. Superbly balanced with long bitter finish. Wow! Glouglouburp (2006), Montreal, Quebec, Canada Apr 7, 2008 Updated: Aug 27, 2008Back from a Czech Republic pub-crawl this is part of my express ratings for the “typical” Světlý 11°- (Czech light Pils), Světlý 12°+ (Czech Pils), Polotmavý (Czech Amber Lagers) and Tmavý (Czech Black Lagers). Non-typical beers will receive personalized descriptions after the express ratings. ----------------------------------------------------------------
How: Tap U Klokočnika, Prague
The look: Clear blonde body with a large white head
To me a typical Czech Světlý 12° and above is: Well malted body with plenty of biscuits and cereals. Sweetness level is in the light-medium range with some honey flavours and a light caramel presence (3/4 honey, 1/4 caramel). Fruity flavour limited to a light citrus flavour. Medium carbonation. Finish is dry and moderately bitter with a light citric touch. After-taste of dry grassy/herbal hops with a light dry spiciness character.
This one: As above but a bit more honey than average and pleasant lemony tartness stronger than in most Czech Světlý. Very refreshing.
