Gr0ve (1091), Oslo, Norway Jan 3, 2008 100 ml sampler. Dark brown, almost black with a reddish hue. Tall creamy white head. Definite roasted barley character. Rounded flavours. A hint of malt sweetness, but overall this is a rather dry beer.Big bubbles and lack the typiical rounded dry stout texture. Still a decent stout, though it lacks a little. Perhaps a little too lager-like. ogivlado (2323), Zagreb, Croatia Dec 10, 2007 On tap at the Kalfaret, Bergen.
Dark reddish/brown coloured, small pale beige head that went away very fast. Mild chocolate, caramel and chicory aroma with the same spicy notes that Bayer had. But Bayer is way better. Rune (1653), Tromsø, Norway Nov 21, 2007 Sampled on tap from a very nice 100ml glass at the brew house (4.5%ABV). Filmy off-white head that left some great lacing on the glass. Deep mahogany body. Discreet notes of cocoa and spicies in the aroma. Roasted taste of chocolate followed by bitter dark fruits in the ending. Smooth on the swallow and easy to drink (15.11.2007). Comments: Another remarkable dull offering with little malts and certainly very little hops indeed. Watery simplicity.
larsga (2145), Oslo, Norway Feb 24, 2007 Medium beige head. Deep dark red body, barely translucent. Burnt chocolatey aroma with notes of soot and a hint of hops. Taste is clean, clear burntness with a pretty thin body, but this time not so much that it’s a problem. Aftertaste is bitterish hops and burntness. Feels a bit acidic, but it’s probably bitterness. A bit watery. They should allow themselves to go above 4.5%; that would have improved all of these beers. (0.5l draft.)
