maeib (3917), Wootton, Northampton, Northamptonshire, England May 9, 2008 Bottled. A hazy golden coloured beer with a large lasting pure white head. The aroma has banana and clove, and the taste banana esters. Wheaty and only slightly less flavoursome than a 5% hefe. A touch of paper, but reasonably decent - and 50pence! Bargain!
FatPhil (2063), Espoo, Finland Aug 1, 2008 500ml bottle (S Market)
Cloudy light gold, healthy head. Light wheaty and bananaey aroma, but quite subdued compared with a full-fat version. Watery palate, a little sweet. Wheat-dominated, but slightly spicy taste, but again, a bit insipid and like it’s good beer watered down. Maybe it is. If I want a 3% beer, I’ll have an English mild, or a <2% traditional kalja/kvass thank you, rather than this. liinis (393), Finland Jun 5, 2008 murky light grey-yellow, white small head. Very light as it says it is.. but that’s not good. too fizzy like a soda. lots of wheat and yeast and sour like raw green banana. Maria (3963), Thisted, Denmark Jun 1, 2008 Warm golden with a nice, creamy head. The Kapuziner weiss beers are very nice, and this does not change that view, even if it’s a light version. The aroma is light with notes of clove, wheat and banana. The flavour has sweetness and the same notes as the aroma, a bit heavy on the wheat. It’s uncomplicated and easy to drink. beervis (212), People’s Republic of Yorkshire, West Yorkshire, England May 9, 2008 Bought in error, 50p from Morrisons. As a low abv beer this is great - quenching, wheaty and yeasty, hint of banana. thin body and a general lack of esters give away its ’light’ category but still has a lot more bite than, say, Peeterman Artois. Drinkable, and decent as a low alcohol though not a decent hefe.
