TheGrandMaster (1846), Auckland, New Zealand Oct 22, 2009 Bottle (in NZ). Sweet caramel aroma. A tart bitterness on the palate, with a malt sweetness you’d expect for the style, but this is overpowering. I’m sure it is popular with the punters though. Barreras (121), Diamond Bar, California, USA Aug 25, 2009 Pours an amber color just like its name. A bit spicy with a dry finish. Taste of sweet caramel and nuts throughout, a surprisingly decent amber ale that I would drink again. Papsoe (14613), Frederiksberg, Denmark Jul 21, 2009 On tap. Clear amber golden with an off-white head. Light aroma of caramel. Light-bodied, a little caramel and a whiff of butter. Finishes dry with hardly any hops to be found. 070709 Ungstrup (14724), Frederiksberg, Denmark Jun 15, 2009 Draft at the Carlsbad location. An amber beer with a beige head. The aroma is malty combined with notes of caramel. The flavor is sweet with notes of malt, caramel, and straw, leading to a dry and lightly bitter finish. bergstaden (99), Røros, Norway Jun 14, 2009 Clear amber with a off white head, nice small of malts - nice sweet malty taste, a hint of bitterness from hops - very nice and refreshing NobleSquirrel (1094), Chicago, Illinois, USA May 27, 2009 Bottle thanks to Snojerk321. Pours a nice reddish bronze with a fizzy fine bubbled head that dissipates. Nose is caramel, molasses, cooked carrots. Taste is better. On the sweeter end with a bit much effervescence for the style, but the taste is good. Caramel and biscuits, pancakes and a clean finish. Pretty tasty, just the nose is a bit off. Decent. tokyogoat (505), San Diego, California, USA May 5, 2009 Smells of light caramel and mildew.
Poured copper with a small head, that dissipated into nothing. not even a halo left behind.
Taste is bleh, a rotten caramelly lagery bite. Something tastes sour, and not in a good way. Beer isnt infected with anything other than poor craftsmanship.
just not good, but I also hate lagers, so dont take much weight in my opinion,. Lagunitasfan (432), San Diego, California, USA May 3, 2009 12 oz bottle. Dark amber with light head. Nose is lightly sweet and malt. Flavor is sweet lager. Bit of sharpness. Some caramel and fruitiness. OK.
