Draft. Nice orangey gold. White head does not last. Smells remind me of old caramel candies. Slickly sweet yet full. A notch up from generic. Kind of filling. Don’t see myself drinking this in multiples. Does not seem balanced.

Draft. Amber beer with a nice off-white head. Some malt flavor. Fairly easy to drink. A touch of sweetness in the aroma - otherwise not much going on. Clean.

not a fan at all and that is a difficult thing to say about a local brewer. almost syrup like consistency and very sweet. just not impressed in the bottle or on tap.

Excellent beer in this category, though I may be over-generous as it is a hometown brew. Good color, very easy to drink. Sweet, but hops are detectable. Won’t blow anyone away, but a very good beer, nonetheless.

on tap at the San Diego airport / this is a very buttery beer. caramel, a bit sweet. almost too thick, yet it’s not thick really. drinkable.

Draft at San Diego Airport - Dark amber in color with a small white head that did not linger. Aroma was a mix of hops and malt, although not strong in either. Flavor was of medium hops and some carmely malt; again not strong. Drinkable, but not a really great effort.

Draft at Applebee’s. Caramel color, aroma and a little in the flavor. Mildly hoppy with some bitterness in the aftertaste. Not my favorite Karl Strauss beer.

On tap at the San Diego airport while waiting for the plane. Sort of a sad way to send off a great brewing town. I think I’ve found San Diego’s answer to Chicago’s Goose Island Honker. Medium orange amber, slight head. Little aroma. Watery, vegetal taste. Talk about a step down from the previous beers. In the end, slight cookie flavor, bit bitter, and vegetal. So-so beyond belief.
