| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Apr 25, 2008 Marks for appearance are an average, as the beer was tasted in weak artificial light after dusk. Very grapey-hoppy nose, dark grapes, raisins in rum - and some more hops. Bitter-grapey; dry taste; dryness even affecting the MF that seems thinner than it probably is. Vinous. Very slick, nearly viscuous. Ah - Karl Strauss can make something good if they put their minds to it. BückDich (4857), McCall, Idaho, USA

The flavor is dry and tangy, sweet chewyness and a stout body and mouthfeel. Nice nose for a barleywine but not the best. goldtwins (4084), Nesconset, New York, USA
