Jul 21, 2009 On tap. Slightly hazy reddish amber with a small off-white head. Aroma of overripe fruit and yeast with some alcohol. Quite full-bodied, fruit yeast and phenols. Alcohol in the finish combined with a light bitterness. A solid take on a strong Belgian. 070709

Jul 23, 2009 From tap at the brewpub. Pours dark orange with a small white head. Aroma is light butterish, caramelish and vague yeasty. Caramelish to toffee flavoured. Slight phenolic and malty flavoured finish.

Dec 30, 2008 Tap at La Jolla location. Deep amber colour. Aroma is quite spicy and fruity. A bit of plumminess and a soft toasted rye component. Lightly fruity and malty. A touch of black pepper and a touch of booziness. Soft and chewy with a light clovey character. As it warms, a nice raisiny baked christmas pudding component comes to the fore. Really much better than I expected and a pretty solid dubbel.

Hazy amber gold color, no head, light lacing. Nose of tart esters and light funky belgian notes. Way too sweet, undercarbonated and hoppy for a belgian attempt. Light heat in the lfavor with some cherry/strawberry notes. Musky grape finish.

Jul 26, 2007 Draft at the downtown brewpub. Aroma of malt and hop. Dark amber color with an ephemeral white head. Medium bodied, with mild carbonation. Very malty sweet with some light spice and enough bitter to notice. Arguably non-descript fruit notes. Heat at the finish.

Aug 1, 2005 Draft. Red amber beer with no head. Sweet malt aroma with a slight yeastiness. Sweet malt flavor with lemons and peaches and yeast. Refreshing, but some very low playdough flavors.

Jul 25, 2008 On tap at the Universal City location. Pours a clear red with no head at all (even upon agitation). No real strong aroma, some sweetness with cotton candy. Taste is some dark fruits with concord grapes. A very weak attempt.

Jul 27, 2008 Sample at the Sorrento Valley location. This brew is a dark reddish-amber color with a medium thin off-white head that dissipates quickly. Thin rings of lacing. Aroma of yeast and spices as well as some sweet malt. Medium body with flavors of malt, yeast and cloves along with some dark fruit in the background. The finish is mildly spiced with a fruity aftertaste. Above average overall.
