A bit of plumminess and a soft toasted rye component. Lightly fruity and malty. A touch of black pepper and a touch of booziness. Soft and chewy with a light clovey character. As it warms, a nice raisiny baked christmas pudding component comes to the fore. Really much better than I expected and a pretty solid dubbel. wetherel (1636), Encinitas, California, USA

| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 16/20 | Nov 27, 2008 At Karl in C’Bad. Pours brown/red with a thin offwhite head, some lace. Smells sweet bready and yeasty with a good amount of sweet dark fruit. Raisins and plums, ripe and red. Tastes about the same. Sweet with dark, ripe fruits and yeast, bread, clove flavors. Medium body, good carbonation. Nice. Get it with the cheese and fruit plate if offered. Awesome. This brew goes well with some sugar. patrick767 (2033), fort wayne, Indiana, USA
| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Jan 23, 2008 draft - Pours dark amber with a big head and an aroma of malt and dark fruit. It has a sweet malt flavor with dark fruit notes and some hops that sneaks up in the finish along with some alcohol presence. Apparently I liked this one more than most people. | 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | May 10, 2009 Tap @ Karl Strauss. Pours a beautiful, mostly clear reddish copper color with a one finger thick off white head that left some spotty lacing. Nice nose of dark fruits, a touch of Belgian yeast and light hops. Flavor of this brew was much like the nose, maybe a little added sweetness. Papsoe (15084), Frederiksberg, Denmark
| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Jul 21, 2009 On tap. Slightly hazy reddish amber with a small off-white head. Aroma of overripe fruit and yeast with some alcohol. Quite full-bodied, fruit yeast and phenols. Alcohol in the finish combined with a light bitterness. A solid take on a strong Belgian. 070709
