| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Jun 15, 2009 Draft at the Carlsbad location. A black beer with a red shine under a tan head. The aroma is very malty combined with notes of bread and caramel. The flavor is sweet malty with a light acidic edge from the roasted malt, since it is rather roated, and has a dry, bitter, and roasted finish. 28 IBU’s. The beer is black with a tan head. It looks a little muddy and crude as well. Flavor is intensely roasty, nutty, and chocolatey. It finishes pretty crisp with a lingering coffee flavor.
