Very dark brown; lingering small brown head. Rich and smooth...easy drinking, rich malts but not overpowering. Creamy, great balance of rich roasted malts, cocoa, grains but with a slight sour fruit finish. On tap at Churchill’s.

Smooth, rich flavor that tapers off after the first couple of sips. Aroma is slightly hoppy with the chocolate malts coming through after. Body is lively but not overwhelming. Good overall beer that is perfect for a warm San Diego evening.

On tap at Karl Strauss. Hazy brown with no head. Rich chocolate, nutty, and roasty aroma and taste with a clean crisp finish. I thought this one was pretty good.

Tasted on draft @ the brewpub in downtown San Diego. Pretty beer to look @ with good lacing. I thought this was a really malty porter when I tasted it. Oats, sweet malt, with little bitterness present.

From tap at the brewpub in Carlsbad. Pours dark brown to black with a lacing tan head. Smooth roasted malt flavour with a nice liqourice note. Liqourice hops and dry roasted malt finish. Mild bitterness coming through.

Hazy and very dark brown color with a medium sized tan head. The aroma was of sweet chocolate and roasted malt. The flavor had a sweat and big coffee front then a chocolate finish. Light to medium bodied with a lively mouthfeel.

Draft at the Carlsbad location. A black beer with a red shine under a tan head. The aroma is very malty combined with notes of bread and caramel. The flavor is sweet malty with a light acidic edge from the roasted malt, since it is rather roated, and has a dry, bitter, and roasted finish. 28 IBU’s. MIne was stated at 4.4% ABV.

A roasty chocolate malt aroma. Definite sweetenss comes through in the nose. The beer is black with a tan head. It looks a little muddy and crude as well. Flavor is intensely roasty, nutty, and chocolatey. It finishes pretty crisp with a lingering coffee flavor.
