Commercial Description:
A medium-dark ale, similar to mild brown British ales. This beer has a pronounced malty flavor attributable to the special malt components in the blend. Toasty flavor, slightly sweet, surprisingly drinkable, with a rich aftertaste.

Dark brown with small head and lacing, aroma is of chocolate, caramel and some malt. Medium-bodied with slight bitter but somewhat sweet taste. Not bad, but I’m pretty sure there’s better brown ales out there.

Much like most brown ale’s I’ve had to date. Brown color with very small non-lacing head. Aroma and flavor are sweet caramel and malt. Smooth body. Little interesting or challenging about this beer. But not bad.

A decent brown, pretty much average in every where. Brown Sugar, Caramel, Nutty. Just like the other browns I have had, alot like Sam Smith Nut Brown.

Draught at Karl Strauss/Old Columbia Grill, San Diego. Smells like my Los Angeles hotel room (details available on request) - doggy. Brownish, with a ring of froth which sticks to the glass somewhat. Tasty Brown ale - chocolate, cream, nuts, coffee - lots of flavours intermingling & overlapping, well into the aftertaste. Varied, yet soft, light and refreshing. Another of the good KS beers.

(Draft: Karl Strauss in La Jolla, CA) A brown ale which emphasizes a sweet maltiness from start to finish; Very light bitterness and just not much hops going on; Sweet, malty nose; Light brown/chestnut in color; Light tan head fades quickly leaving not even a ring of lacing

My favorite of all the karl strauss beers I've had so far. Nice smoky, roasted notes in the middle. Enjoyable.

Dark chestnut brown appearnce. Aromas of lightly toasted malt and damp wood. Sweet malty palate with some dark chocolate. Very little bitterness and just seems to sour a little in the finish.

Downtown Afterwork Ale. Nice light brown color. Sweet, malty, light (what isn't from Karl?).
