Pours a mostly clear deep amber color with a small off white head. Big nose of rye malt, herbal hops and was quite sweet. | 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Jun 30, 2008 Updated: Aug 11, 2008On cask at Pizza Port real ale festival. This was a surprise to see a Karl on tap since they usually only share their beer with their restaurants but I knew I had to sample this offering. It had a bread and slight grain aroma yet subdued under the obvious smell of alcohol that only beer alone would give off. The appearance was a medium tan brown and had a thin layer of foam I’m accustomed to with KS’s ales. Flavor was somewhat empty and held no strong backbone other than the light bread notes and sweet malt. I am willing to re-taste this one.
