Ungstrup (10824), Frederiksberg, Denmark Jun 6, 2008 Draft at the brewpub. A hazy copper colored beer with a thin beige head. The aroma is sweet malty with primary notes of caramel, but also light notes of bourbon and alcohol. The flavor is very powerful with notes of bourbon, alcohol, and over ripe fruits, leadin to a dry woody finish. Angeloregon (1516), Portland, Oregon, USA Oct 15, 2007 From a tap at Oak’s Bottom and Concordia Alehouse in Portland--Poured a deep mahogany chestnut amber-orange. Tan small fluffy head. Nose of high alcohol heat and musty fruit cough syrup. Thick, resinous piny hops and sweet and cloying malts. Bubblegum and sticky fruit finish with a fleeting buttery texture. Oaky, woody and quite a strange blend of flavors, though most enjoyable. raphael (243), Portland, Oregon, USA May 9, 2007 On tap at Oak’s Bottom. Aroma of maraschino cherries, white toast & a bit of nail polsh. An IIPA without hop aroma?-- maybe under the chemical smell. silky o the tongue, almost hot pin-pricks into the tongue. Dark orange color w/ chino colored head, tin but peristent, hops express in the flavor, though still the solvent presence w/ hints of dired cherry, grapefuit & bubblegum. could be a good English strong if the chemical presence was gone or hidden.
