| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Nov 16, 2008 (Tap) Pours a ruby red color with a faint pink hue to the small head. Aroma of ripe mashed cherries. Taste is rather complex, with cherries obviously dominating. As the beer warmed, I got some fleeting amaretto, vanilla and oak (or other wood) notes as well. Rather tart cherry flavor balanced the sweetness pretty nicely. Alcohol is well hidden. Very enjoyable! EHopper (348), Minnesota, USA

| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Oct 27, 2008 Bottle. Low and quickly disappearing creamy off-white head. Clear dark red body. Strong cherries marzipan aroma. Cherries and cherries stone flaovr and again the marzipan is there. Low carbonation, short aftertaste. Would not have guessed on such a high alcohol percentage as this beer seems little aggressive. tarheels86 (785), Washington DC, USA
| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Oct 27, 2008 Had this at Tyler’s in Carrboro. Pours a dark ruby with a very small, pink head. Lacing is excellent. Nose is cherries and sugar. Taste is sweet but then turns tart and sour. There is some port wine or pinot noir in there. The 8% abv is well hidden. Overall, not too fruity or acidic. Great dessert beer. faroeviking (6107), BjórtjóðveldiðBjórheimBjórsins, Faroe Islands

| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Oct 24, 2008 On tap at the flying saucer in KC as ’’Kasteel Rouge.’’ Pours a deep ruby, corduroy red with a small deep pink and creamy head. Stays pretty lacy and frothy throughout the session. The aroma is definitely dominated by sweet cherries. Some caramel malts, almonds, and a sour/tart belgium woody yeast. Palate is soft and medium bodied with a nice carbonated feel. Taste is simply put, cherry sweet. Not complex in the least bit. Finishes slightly sour and acidic, but nice. Tastes more like a beer than most fruit/lambics I’ve had in the past. Overall, I’m impressed. Easy drinking and very pleasant. I wouldn’t drink more than one in a session, but it served its purpose rather well.
