The beer pours a deep black cherry color, the head creamy and reddish purple in color, the size modest, as it depletes, and the lace forms a thin but concealing sheet. Nose is steeped in sweet ripe cherries, with a nut-like undertone, tart and crisp, a real delight for the ocular and olfactory senses. Start is ripe sweet fruit at the front; tart at the back, hint bitterness also present, top is moderate in feel. Finish has a stinging acidity, tart cherry flavor carries to the end, not a hint of the eight percent alcohol, what a “Hoot”.

Jul 17, 2008 Bottle 33 cl called `Kasteel Rouge´. Pours a clear red with a medium white head and a cherry-like aroma. The taste is fruity, mostly cherries and not too sweet. Doesn’t feel like 8% abv, not something special, but pretty good for a commercial fruit beer

Jul 15, 2008 Burgundy appearance with a medium size, rosy hued head. Sweet, potent cherry infused aroma with some caramel lingering in the background. Smooth, straightforward fruity taste, faint tartness, but not all that complex. Lingering, sweet finish that hides the alcohol pretty well.

Jul 14, 2008 Pours a dark ruby color with a pink head. Aroma is mostly cherry with hints of chocolate. Flavor is also, as expected, cherries with a hint of chocolate with a little warming on the finish.

Jul 14, 2008 Bottled. Poured ruby in color with a white head. Aroma was big cherry like cherry nibs or ludeman’s cough drops. Flavor was sweet cherry nibs. Very sweet finish with a slight tinge of sourness. A sweet cherry flavor beer sums this one up well.

Jul 9, 2008 A nice dark cherry appearance with dark cherry aroma, very little head, sweet dark cherry taste and nice smooth finish, not as effervescent or smooth as some other belgian lambics, but a nice desert beer to have with twix bars, kinda like a alchoholized cherry pepsi.
