Feb 5, 2009 Bottle from Trinity Liquors in Spring Hill, FL. Pours dark brown with an off-white head. Nose is candy sugar, dark fruit, caramel, toffee, honey, and a slight yeast presence. Flavor is remarkably similar with a syrupy sweetness that dominates the brew. Lots of sugar and ripe dark fruit. Finished off with a wicked sweetness that lingers. Interestingly Belgian beer.

Feb 1, 2009 Pours deep mahogany into a trappist glass. Head quickly recedes to nothing. Prune and pit fruit aromas. Sweet and tangy upfront with a lasting tart dried fruit finish.

Feb 1, 2009 Had the Kasteel Brown. Very dark brown color, and a light brown foam. I love that beer, I had it quite a few times. But this one is very sweet and has a strong taste of chocolate, but the flavors are strong and always present and plesant. The only problem for me is that the foam does not stay long, but still a very excelent beer. If you like sweet beers you must try this one.

Jan 31, 2009 750 ml Bottle 2006. Dark ruddy brown with a very tiny head. Aroma was yeasty and sweet. Heady alcohol, very sweet, with molasses and dark fruit.

Jan 30, 2009 Draught at TND: Aroma is sweet with notes of yeast, spices, alcohol, medicine, malts, and sugar. Poured brown with a ruby hue in color and a small tan head. Clear. Sparkling. Small lacing. Flavor is medium to very sweet. Tastes of malts, caramel, maple syrup, candi sugar, and slight chocolate. Light to medium body. Thin, watery texture. Soft carbonation. Dry, sweet, sugary finish.

Jan 23, 2009 Bottle. Pours a dark brown, very little head. Nose is not too distinct, slightly sweet and toffee, as well as smells of alcohol a bit. Taste is very sweet, and complex, with bitterness coming in the middle before returning to a sweet finish. Nice complex beer, too sweet for me.

Jan 19, 2009 Split bottle with fatboy on January 16, 2009. Dark brown color with red hues. Clean body, nice light brown head. Banana/spice aroma with yeast. Not as caramelly as most Belgian brunes I’ve had... much more sour. Very sweet - cherry, molasses. Slick and thick going down. Leaves a sweet and sticky residue on the lips. Best enjoyed when warmed up a little...
