| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Dec 29, 2006 Dark brownish red with a small head, good lacing, average retention. Aroma is plums, dark sugars, chocolate, caramel, berries. Flavor brings this all with a slight alcohol burn that lingers, but you’d never guess 11%. Extremely delicate smoothness for a beer like this. Quite sweet, but very enjoyable. Man, it’s been too long since I’ve had a nice Belgian. larsga (2969), Oslo, Norway
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 16/20 | Dec 27, 2006 Small light beige head. Dark red translucent body. Tight vinuous peppery aroma of licorice and alcohol with notes of chocolate. Quite harmonic. Taste is deep, sweet licorice and chocolate, with strong spicy notes, and a cardamom finish. Very harmonic, and hard to analyze, but very, very nice. Quite a bit of alcohol heat, and you can taste a little alcohol as well. (0.33l bottle.) johninmelb (692), Bristol, Gloucestershire, England

The dark brown body of this beer is murky and holds a thumb thick, creamy tan head that diminishes slowly.

Has a brown sugar laden, sweet bread and raisin accented aroma. Very sweet and cake/bread-like aroma.

Fore is brown sugar, sweet malt, some mild bitter toastiness, raisin, all spice. Warming alcohol is quite present through the middle and into the finish. A bit dusty in the far finish. Carbonation is soft, but noticeable. Overall a touch too sweet, but not terribly so. The alcohol is a bit hot. auderale (572), Fairchild AFB, Washington, USA
