this came highly recommended when i was in the store talking to a guy who tours the breweries in belgium every year. sweet aromas of plum and caramel, flavor of spice with some alcohol warming. if you’re a belgium fan, this brown beauty will definitely rate up there with the finest.

dark brown color and a small creamy off white head that strangely coats the outside of the glass as you drink it. caramel, toffee malt aroma. really sweet. the sweetest belgian i’ve tried. caramel, plum, raisins, other dark fruits, candy. tons of sugar. this stuff must rot your teeth faster than cola. WAY too sweet but the alcohol is completely covered up.

Bottle. Pours with a look not unlike cola. Aroma is practically non-existent. Taste is of alcohol (pretty well hidden for the 11%, though) and sugar/caramel. Nothing exciting at all about this beer, went in the sink after three sips.

11.2oz bottle, dated 03-2010. Pours a cloudy dark brown with a small, beige head. Aroma is of Belgian yeast, candied sugar, alcohol, and raisins. Taste is of lots of raisins, very sweet, alcohol is well hidden, sweet finish. Soft carbonation.

Bottle courtesy of HogTownHarry. Pours a clear dark reddish-brown with a spare diminishing off-white head. Sweet aroma of malt, dark fruit, yeast, sugar and alcohol. Flavour’s just as sweet, a touch too much for me. Tastes of caramel malt, brown sugar, dark fruit, spices and yeast with a mildly bitter alcoholic dry finish. Medium bodied. This is pretty decent but it doesn’t knock my socks off, I’m just not into overly sweet Belgians.

Cloudy dark brown with a thin brown head. Slightly funky aroma with plum, pear, alcohol and a hint of cocoa. Thick and sweet with a little alcohol burn. Plummy, spicy flavors. Stronger in alcohol than flavor.

Pours a dark brown with small amount of head. Aroma is light with small scent of yeast and malt. Flavor is real sweet with caramel, sugar cane, cinnamon and some spice. Old beer, but i bet this was a real nice strong ale when it was fresh on the shelf.
