Head was white and tenacious with good retention and lacing. The aroma was very refined with the different elements balanced an harmonious. I smelled clove, light brown sugar, yeasty bread dough, sea salt, and a hint of cheddar cheese. Sweet on the tongue with distinct alcohol and some fruit. Light to medium bodied, probably lightened up by all the EtOH. Tasted of champaign and piles of clove. Another good abbey-ish beer made at a brewery staffed by what I assume are non monks. Or are they? scrizzz (1268), kirkland, Washington, USA

| 3.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Feb 14, 2008 In short: An overly sweet and simple alcoholised blonde Belgian beer.
How: Bottle 330ml, 1+ year old
The look: Cloudy blonde body with a little white ring of foam
In long: Very sweet and sugary beer. Sweetened peach and peers flavour with hints of lemon pie and meringue. A little floral touch and that’s it, hops presence totally crushed by the sweetness. Alcohol apparent. Not a bad beer at all but too sweet and not complex enough. As sweet and simple as a friendly retard.

| 2.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 3/10 | 4/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 8/20 | Feb 12, 2008 Clear light gold, decent lasting head. Aroma spicy phenols, an almost burnt rubber note, and alcohol rough and present. Simply not inviting at all. Flavor is initially of pale malts, a quick note of burnt rubber, pepper, and spice, ending on a harsh alcohol note. Some bread there as well. Overall, I just didn’t care for this at all. Aroma of spices, predominantly coriander. Flavor was coriander, bananas and a lot of othe fruity sweetness. A noticeable alcohol burn was present at the end. Alcohol flavor was prevalent, but not unpleasant. Mouthfeel might have been a bit overcarbonated. A nice beer. andywandy (18), England
