Drnk_McDermott (1537), Downers Grove, Illinois, USA Aug 10, 2005 Updated: Jun 25, 2008 Bottle dated May ’02, enjoyed 4/9/05. Light golden pour. Very fizzy, with a bit of a sweet honey smell. Taste is a sweet white wine, a touch of vanilla and a suggestion of oak. Just a little bitterness and then tartness with a sugary finish. I found this at [a href is equal to http://ratebeer.com/Place/illinois/oak-forest/foremost-liquors/20.htm]Foremost Liquors[/a], being closed out at $2.99. Why? They surely know Belgians stay pretty good as they age. Maybe because the labels were different from year to year. Another 2002 bottle, enjoyed 5/31/07. Just as nice as before. Just noting a bit of cork in the initial swig. I’ve had a previous bottle that went way too tart, but this is still nicely sweet, with a contrasting dry finish. Crazy world, huh? This had a different label that I hoped meant it was the Donkel, but it still says "Golden" on it.
Defreni (475), Frederiksberg, Denmark Aug 13, 2008 Flaske. Flot gul øl med et lækkert skum. Duften er frugtig med en smule gær i. Smagen er frisk med en dejlig karbonering, og en rigtig fin balance i forhold til 11%. Dejlig og anbefalelsesværdig øl. brewhan (14), USA Aug 7, 2008 Pours with a fluffy full slightly off white head. Aroma is slightly weaker than it should be...slightly acidic, with diacetyl notes, some banana, little clove. Appearance is spot on, looks like it came straight off the farm (even though the brewery isn’t on one I believe). Flavor is moderate at first, then bites with much citrus and banana. Leaves a decent palate, could be a little stronger. Not bad overall! dmac (833), Toms River, New Jersey, USA Aug 5, 2008 Bottle shared at BCTC 2008. Pours a slightly hazy yellow gold with a small white head. Aroma is yeasty and bready but has a slight citrus hop nose and some fruitiness. Flavor has more spice and pepper notes then the aroma but also lots of yeast and grain as well. Very fizzy strong carbonation on a medium bodied brew. Overall I liked this one, I liked it a lot. Lord_Corkscrew (535), Ronco Scrivia (GE), Italy Jul 30, 2008 In italiano. BoBoChamp (618), Gent, Belgium Jul 21, 2008 33cl, from De Hopduvel Gent, strong beer, complex, but too heavy, clear, good head, good brew, but not a topper
