Bottle in Denver. Pours a dark bronze colour with ruby highlights. Big cola carbonation makes a medium offwhite head. Aroma is caramel malts and molassas. Flavour is very heavy molassas even including some sulphur notes at the finish.

Dark ruby, small dense sticky white head. Molasses and cherry wood aroma. More sweetness, some smoke, clean finish. I really like the wood character.

Deep chestnut color with absolutely no head to speak of. It smells nutty and tastes nearly the same. Heavy malts, actually quite a nice flavor to it and the 7.5 abv is not noticeable. Easy to drink and a surprisingly tasty dopplebock especially considering it was only $2.50 for 500ml. Serving type: bottle Reviewed on: 04-12-2009 01:28:55

Very little carbonation, strong sweet malt flavor, all I could think of while drinking this was maple syrup.

Poured a nice amber/brown color with a bit of an off-whitehead. Aroma was hazelnut, maple syrup, caramel, molasses, a bit of toffee. Flavor was one huge malt bomb, almost like drinking a swig of hazelnut flavoring syrup mixed with maple candy. I’m glad I was splitting this bottle, because a few sips was all I really needed. Almost overpoweringly sweet, but a lot of complexity for all that.

20090209 500ml bottle from State Line. Ruby brown pour with small tan head that fades quickly to a lasting ring. Aroma is sweet with plum, prune, fig notes and light cherry. Sticky, rich malt texture but not cloying and in fact ever so mildly spicy with some nutmeg notes at the end. Could be fuller bodied. This is obviously not a very fresh bottle, but the beer is plenty solid and has aged gracefully with only mild oxidation. Fruitiness has not waned.

Brewed in Germany.... Pours a reddish brown color with a thin tan head. Aroma of raisins, malts, and caramel. Taste is of mild malts, figs, and caramel. This was a nice rounded doppelbock and worth looking for.

09 New Years- Good well rounded Doppelbock. Malt and grains with an even keeled texture that although smooth rather weak compared to Celebrator. Decent drinker and pleasant to quaff.
