Picked up a .5 liter at Stateline in MD. Pours a deep ruby amber with an initial fizzy small head but fades to nothing. No head no lacing. Aroma is salty soy sauce, thcik sticky sweet caramel and munich malts, toast and chocolate hints. Slick flavor of more caramel, toasted malts, nutty, light chocolates, more soy, and some burnt malts. Ok palate, but not as easy to drink overall as some other doppelbocks.

Bottle in trade from Degarth, Thanks again Joe.Pours a clear broenish brew with some caramel-toffee aromas, maybe plums or is it prune juice? Not bad but thin on the tongue.

At the 2007 Big Beer, Belgians, & Barleywines Festival in Vail. Clear reddish brown in color with an off white head of resounding success. Has a great bread dough yeasty malt bock aroma. Flavors abound with caramel and some toasted malt. Thick and delicious.

The aroma is grainy with licorice, brown sugar, cardboard, and herbs. The appearance is mahogany with a one finger head. The flavor is like the aroma but the alcohol is hotter than the aroma leads on. The palate is thin. Overall it’s interesting enough to finish but not one I would return to often. The aroma is better than the taste though it did improve as it warmed.

Deep brown with an off white head. Aroma is a blend of sweet malt, bread, chocolate and dark fruit. Sweet malty flavor with notes of chocolate and fruit. Long smooth finish. Very nice.

Has a very nice sweet caramel aroma. Taste is also sweet, lots of sugar. This is an excellent doppel, very dessert like. One of my favorites of the style.

Bottle from Liquid Solutions. Molasses, sweet bread and malts and a faint hint of sweet golden raisins make up the aroma. The body is dark amber/chestnut and holds a diminishing pinky sized tan head. <P> Fruit cake/pumpernickel tasting fore. Sweet and malty though the middle. The finish is lightly bitter, but this is mostly your typical malt heavy double bock. Fairly simple flavor profile, but easy to drink and that slightly carmelized molasses, pumpernickel flavor leaves a nice aftertaste.
