Ungstrup (14754), Frederiksberg, Denmark Aug 31, 2009 Bottled. A hazy golden beer with a thin beige head. The aroma is sweet with notes of malt, fruit, and prunes. The flavor is quite sweet with notes of malt, fruit, and prunes - a bit cloying. Thanks yespr for sharing. Rciesla (3500), Exit 15W, New Jersey, USA Aug 6, 2009 Bottle. Pours a golden body with a white head. Fruity sweet candy citrus aroma with bread y notes banana and lighter spices. Good brew. obguthr (986), Poquoson, Virginia, USA Jul 14, 2009 Baby food, apples, and rice aroma with a rubber chemical smell. Amber pour with a little viscosity, medium head. Wheat malt and cidery flavor. Only the faintest presence of dates are left on the palate. Uncommonly unassuming for the style. esjaygee (1467), Oak Creek, Wisconsin, USA Jul 8, 2009 Amber with floaties insinuating infection. Aroma of bready malt, dough, caramel, fruit and mild cardboard. Taste of mild dark fruit, caramel, light tannins, spicy yeast, fig, cardboard and a touch of dark malt. Obviously the bottle was fairly old but beyond the cardboard the beer was merely average. Ughsmash (3978), Waukesha, Wisconsin, USA Apr 18, 2009 Bottled. Poured clear medium amber with a short cap of beige head. The aroma picked up raw pizza dough, toasted caramel, and almonds with accents of dark fruit, sour wheat, and lemon zest.. singed the nose hairs on the back, and it was a bit of a mess. The flavor had sour wheaty and lemony notes throughout over doughy and honey notes.. some vinous character on the back-end along with tacky honeycomb. Medium-bodied with lower carbonation on the palate.. more sour than expected.. if someone told me that this was wine barrel-aged, I’d probably believe ’em. blutt59 (2042), Dallas, Texas, USA Jan 8, 2009 bottle, hazelnut colored with skimmed head, aromas of wine, raisins and fermented dough, flavors of dark bread, congealed fruits and malty light finish Metalhead (570), Lake Zurich, Illinois, USA Dec 25, 2008 Hazy amber pour with not much of a head.
Aroma is semi sweet , malty and of candied fruit.
Tastes pretty much how it smells tho the body is a tad thin. Toss in some spice in the finish and there ya go. I think this was around $3.49 or so for a 500ML BillKismet (1897), Seattle, Washington, USA Dec 22, 2008 Beautiful amber pin with airy, large-bubbled head that rapidly settles. One of the more aromatically intriguing German brews. Strong smells of malt and wheat and cereal. In fact, a strong "wheaties" component with some malt ball on the end. Flavor is rather insipid and ho-hum for a weizen bock. Easy going, but dilute malt flavor with some dabs of milk chocolate and raisin. Some wheat and little if any yeast or phenol component. An apple cider and wheat finish.
