notalush (2627), Denver, Colorado, USA Oct 23, 2009 The pour is very lively - it’s so fizzy that you can hear the beer from across the room (at least that is what my wife says) - lightly tart aroma, with some notes of yeast, dough, nuts, caramel, light clove and bubblegum phenols - the flavor is tart, nearly sour, acidic, apple cider vinegar - some tangy wheat and light clove and nutmeg come around behind that, but not enough to wash out the acidity - I started out thinking this was infected, but the more I drink it, the less the sourness seems out of place - I’m still not loving it, but it isn’t as terrible as some think. Lubiere (4463), Ottawa, Ontario, Canada Oct 17, 2009 A dark amber to brown dunkel with a tin off white. A nice caramle malt aroma with fruity notes, light porto qualities. In mouth, a light weak beer, deteriorated by age, mineral water, with notes of lemon and caramel, passed its prime. Bottle, BB 02-06, shared with probstk, Sept. 12 2009. TheBeerOrg (1563), Kentucky, USA Sep 27, 2009 Pours amber with a fully receding off-white head. Notes of caramel, rye, toffee, nuts, banana, and spice. Medium bodied with lush carbonation. Light sweetness in the finish. An enjoyable example. MoritzF (4856), Bochum, Germany Sep 22, 2009 (bottle) Hazy, chestnut-brown colour with a thick and light-beige foamy head. Yeasty, slightly dusty and sweet malty nose with a moderate wheat-character, accompanied by notes of berries, toffee and cloves. Slightly sweet and minimal sour flavour, quite light bodied with a moderate carbonation. Yeasty and wheaty fruity taste with shy notes of toffee; slim and short fruity finish. Rather disappointing. 22.IX.09 Papsoe (14613), Frederiksberg, Denmark Sep 1, 2009 Bottle 50 cl. Pours an almost clear warm amber with a nice off-white head. Light nuttiness in the nose combined with some tartness. Light body, very tart - and nothing much else. Heavy carbonation, no bitterness. Clearly infected. I really don’t think German beer should travel as far as California. 100709 alobar (1006), Harleysville, Pennsylvania, USA Jul 25, 2009 Pours a muddy light brown color with a fizzy white head. Aroma of wheat and yeast. Carbonated feel with slightly sour yeast taste with some wheat present. Light for a dunkel. blutt59 (2042), Dallas, Texas, USA Jul 23, 2009 bottle, muddy gravy pour with little foam, aroma is dry wheat, flavor has thin wheat and some sour hoppiness, finish is bland BillKismet (1895), Seattle, Washington, USA Jul 21, 2009 Hazy brownish amber wood color with fine, lacy head. Pleasant musky yeast aroma of phenols, predominantly a light cloviness, with an open fermentaton twang of malt cider vinegar and hints of farmhouse and residual, unattenuated malt sweetness. Mouthfeel is a bit too smooth, you wish the flavor clings a little longer. Light phenols and re-emergence of that cidery farmhouse quality. Finish is lightly flat and wheaty, but for the most part, neutral.
