All the banana and clove notes of the weizen with the added touch and flavor layer of chocolate malts? It’s dessert in a bottle! But once again Aktienbrauerei’s version of the beer disappointing. Not crushingly disappointing. Just a relaxed, defeated sigh kind of disappointed. The dark red lacquer color of the beer partially disguises a drink with tons of gaseuous traffic, lending it a busy clarity in a dim shade of red. A creamy aroma slowly writhes from the glass, gracefully exuding a light, mellow wood flavor, difficult to grasp in its subtlety. The flavor is more palpable; cold and crisp, it copies the wood flavor and adds a chocolate tribute and a savory side, mixed like chicken adobada. These flavors give the Aktienbrauerei a dry and warm quality, and relative to other darker lagers, seems rather flavorless. This is more restrained than I had hoped, though gives me hope that other Dunklesweizens might be more what I’m looking for. pivnizub (5028), Bochum, Porúří, Germany

It was hard..... thedm (3836), Fort Wayne, Indiana, USA
| 2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 4/10 | 3/5 | 4/10 | 2/5 | 7/20 | Jun 27, 2008 This bottled brew from Indianapolis, IN poured a large sized head of foamy finely sized off white colored mostly diminishing bubbles that left behind a transparent typically carbonated golden brown colored body and a thick lacing. The aroma was very mild with brown malt dough and hop notes. The mouth feel was mildly tingly and thick. Too thick for a dunk el. The flavor contained notes of mild brown malts and hops. Was not a very good brew. urbnhautebourg (974), Annapolis, Maryland, USA

| 2.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 11/20 | Jun 12, 2008 50 cL bottle. Pours hazy orange with a dense off-white head. Mild roasted and estery wheat aroma. Flavour is mild acidic and banana estery with a light roasted note, but only a vague one. Ends with a mild acidic touch. BlackDonald (1127), Boise, Idaho, USA
| 3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Jun 5, 2008 This beer had the ability to be so much more. The nose is great, all the fruity pheolics are there, yeasty clove and banana, with a touch of honey sweet maltiness, but unfortunately little of that follows through onto the palate. Yesty spices are still there but slightly muddled in a watery cereal grain malitiness. Disappointing. EithCubes (2146), Indiana, USA
| 3.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | May 26, 2008 Bottle. Phenolic bubblegum nose with a little wheat. Lighter banana and toffee. Cloudy chestnut/copper body with a soapy, frothy beige head. Fruity taste is a little more jumbled (and sweeter), figgy mineral water with bananas and clove. Watery body but effervescent, nice plummy notes with just a little touch of chocolate. Yeastiness is nice but should be coming through more. Enjoyable but not great.
