Commercial Description:
This dark wheat beer is bottle conditioned. Made from a combination of 50% wheat and 50 % barley malt, it has a hearty body yet is effervescent and palatable. Wheat beer officianados must discover for themselves this different and exciting brew. Very dry aftertaste.

Pours hazy copper-amber with a two-finger white head. Earthy, toasted aroma. Flavor of wheat, dark fruit, caramel, and light banana. A tart rye-like flavor comes in near the end; this blends with the fruit and wheat to give an impression of fresh cherry. Nice touch, but it’s still not a very exciting brew.

(on bottle)Any weisse without too much banana is a good weisse and dunkel weisses just seems to make the cut. Nice fresh, though roasty nose, even with hints of smoke and dirt. Light bodied and quite perky, dosen´t leave any marks on the palate, would make it good swill.

Bottle, post PP SAF: Light brown hue with small head and minimal lace. The aroma has notes of banana and clove esters, wheat, caramel and nutty malt, and a tad phenolic. The taste starts with twangy fruit and a sweet malt base. Slight spice and grassy notes upon the finish. The mouth feel is lively but too carbonated and thin. Not all that great, disappointing (till I read these rating, now not so much).

Bottle from State Line. Hazy dull coppery pour with 3-finger off-white head. Aroma is caramel malt, hopcitrus, sour funky yeast, mild brown sugar. Tastes tart, with a cherry malty sour flavor upfront, and some brown sugar and figs late, with backup funky notes.

Clouded copper head. Nice white head that dissipated. Hint of infection in nose. Sweet nutty fruitiness of dates, raisins, or brown sugar. Little indication of wheat. Not very sessionable.

Bottle sampled. Pours a chestnut color with a nice white head. Aroma of light citrus, caramel, banana, and a hint of toffee. Flavor is moderately sweet with roasted wheat, caramel and some light fruit and a dry malty finish.

Pours dark hazy mahogany with a sweet banana and chocolate nose. Caramel and chocolate flavors up front with a dry wheat flavor and big banana finish. Some rasin flavor shows in the finish with a sweet drawn out aftertaste. Lacks carbonation.

The aroma is heavy with brown sugar and caramel. There is also some dark fruit, raisins, yeast, and bread. The appearance is amber brown with yeast chunks and a small head. The flavor is like the aroma and somewhat bitter and acidic. The palate is thin and poorly carbonated. I like the beer but it just seems sub-par in to many areas to be a great beer.
