Marsiblursi (1404), Gö te la borrrrg, Sweden Jul 5, 2008 Updated: Jul 8, 2008(Bottle) Pours a deep reddish brown colour with a medium off-white head. The aroma is medium malty and light to medium hoppy with tones of mild roast, nuts, dark bread, clean caramel, watery dark syrup, herbs, grass and hints of vegetables/sweet asparagus. Undertones of nectar/roses, light honey and dark fruits like prunes and raisins alongside a very subtle hint of smoke. The flavour is medium malty and light to medium hoppy with tones of mild roast, dark bread, light nuts, tiny smoked, grass, herbs, some vegetal notes and some dark fruitiness. The mouthfeel is clean, smooth and creamy malty with a light to medium dry hop finish. The aftertaste is of grassy hops and dark bready malt. Light to medium bitter and medium sweet. Medium bodied. Nice.
FrankJohansen (2636), Sabro, Denmark Jul 10, 2007 Draught. Clear amber colour with a medium creamy beige head. Rich aroma and taste of malts, fruits and hops. Dry hoppy finish. schuimkroaat (384), Leuven, Belgium Jun 16, 2007 0.5 L bottle, ’bbe’ Nov 07. Clear dark mahogany with a sizeable off-white froth. Nose of dark bread, light smoky, with hints of raisins, hazelnuts and wood. Full, round malty taste with notes of bread and other components from the aroma. Very smooth body with a woody finish. JorisPPattyn (4282), Antwerpen, Belgium Jun 2, 2007 Dark brown beer with an orange-gold shine; end of a rim for head. I would venture some smoked malt in the nose! For the rest, classical, bready, sweet-ish notes with some vegetal, fresh hints. Sweet main taste, slightly bitterish, earthy & leafy as it ought to be! Light to medium bodied, rather good carbonation. Very tasteful Dunkel. Well worth looking for. Ochsenfurt is supposed to be very nice as well, and maybe a bit overlooked by the classical beertrails. shrubber85 (2506), Wallhalben, Rheinland-Pfalz, Germany Nov 1, 2004 Updated: Jul 21, 2006Bottle. Coffee, chocolate, chestnut malt aroma - complex. Dark brown color with quickly collapsing head. Very nice creamy mocha malt taste with the slightest hint of hops - palate lasts well after swallowing - this brewery is a hidden jewel in Franconia - great beers.
