Inviting nose. Dark roasted malts and copper hops. A touch on the dry side throughout the palate, but the beer does state itself as a mild english dark. Some nice cocao butter near the finish. Mild, yes...but well balanced and nothing to turn one away.

Pours a dark brown with a decent creamy head and a faint metallic sweet aroma. Tastes very chocolaty, sweet, watery. Thin body but somewhat creamy, low carb. Touted as a stout, better than the standard tap macro-lager, but just.

No aroma. Red brown, low brown head. Light metallic berry notes, feels somewhat artificial. Light body - a bit watery.

A deep dark brown ale with a thick froathy moka head. A chocolate malt aroma with notes of prunes. In mouth, a sweet caramel malt with notes of light molasses, not enought hopping, a bit maderized. Medium bodied. Bottle from Capflu, December 2006.

Dark and complex looking, equally interesting flavour although could do with a touch less sweetness. Good chocolate finish, though.

Thick, rich aroma offers caramel malt some notes of roast and plenty of brown sugar and dark fruit. Darkest chestnut coloured body is clear with a decent and lasting crown of off white head that sticks to the sides of the glass. Chewy, malty and sweet flavour has a hint of licorice, a touch of smoke and plenty of raisin and plum fruitiness. Chocolate sweetness lingers in the aftertaste once the roasty bitterness has past. Light body with moderate carbonation that is engaging on the tongue and cheeks if perhaps just a bit sharp. Quelle bonne surprise! Tulip glass. Just above fridge temperature. Bottle (BCLS at 8th/Cambie, Oct-06).
