Pale, dilapidated yellow, about as much head as your dead grandma manages, good ol’ CUB rougher-than-thou feral cigarette butt taste, and a good metallic kick that *might* just be due to the can (yeah, right). I really didn’ t think you could go lower than VB or Melbourne Bitter - I was wrong. highlandlad (1258), Sydney, Australia
| 1.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 2/10 | 2/5 | 3/10 | 3/5 | 5/20 | Jul 6, 2005 The can is a design classic. Shame CUB had to spoil things by putting beer in. Poured a bright gold with a short now-you-see-it-now-you-don’t head. Straight from the fridge, you’d need a search party to find an aroma. Faint cardboardy malt and POR hops. But agh, it’s sweet. Another classic hop-free CUB lager. Similar to VB in its total absence of bitterness. However, all said, it’s one of the less offensive lagers in the stable. mullet (798), Melbourne, Australia

Aroma is pretty clean with some steamy yeast and a tiny bit of sweet apple and banana, but you can tell it’s gonna taste sweet. Soda water flavour with sugar sweetness. There’s probably no more residual sugar in this than any other beer but it just seems sweet due to the complete absence of hops, which makes it seem a bit more refined I think though it’d probably get very sickly after a few. Some astringency. I like the can. damirvrkic (55), Franklin ACT, Australia

| 1.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 4/10 | 3/5 | 4/10 | 3/5 | 5/20 | May 9, 2004 Overwhelming fizziness with a short arsenic finish. Even smells fizzy. Is really a classic piece of Aussie 70s design and flavour which has changed little with time. Makes one think of Dennis Lilley. Is pretty good value though, given it was only about A$1.50 for the can. Spiesy (2333), Global Citizen, Greater London, England
| 2.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 4/10 | 2/5 | 8/20 | Apr 30, 2003 Can. I've never seen it served any other way. I'm sure it was on draught when I was a boy but I've never seen it in a bottle. Big burley gold beer, bubbly white head. Sharp bitter metallic tast. Solid bitter finish. A Classic 70's beer, almost fashionable again. Sully (1367), Woolloomooloo, New South Wales, Australia
