Commercial Description:
Hurricane Kitty is a coppery and heavily hopped India Pale Ale. Named after brewmaster Keegan’s grandmother who’s driving earned her quite a reputation racing her six children to and from a local Long Island beach ferry during the 1960’s, Hurricane Kitty is the undisputed family favorite. We try to make the hop bill read as aggressively as her driving record.

Pours out a orange/red with a decent white head, upon first sip it hits you with that IPA bitter bite and leads to a sweet finish. Very good

Deep orange that looks red in certain light. Thick puffy head. Clear and glassy. Head sticks around a bit. Aroma is oily, mildly piney. Very much has the aroma of the forest. Some woods and grass-clippings; very aromatic. Nice, but not an extreme hop presence. The flavor is roasted malt, even to the point of being burnt, which makes it a one-two punch with the hops. The hops actually smooth out the bitter malt (!). Possibly a little TOO bitter but certainly not in a bad way. Just makes the balance less apparent. The feel is thick and chewy. Very robust feel for an IPA. Creamy at the swallow. A robust, bitter IPA with equally strong malts and hops. Smells great.

Bottle from coldbrewky, many thanks! Deep amber pour with a creamy beige head that leaves a good amount of lacing. Aroma is tea and hops. Good palate that’s thin and creamy with crisp carbonation. Nice flavor of floral hops, sweet malt, and notes of tea. Tastey.

bottle: pours a nice, hazy copper with a thin beige head. The arouma is amazing. Sweet malts balanced by a citrusy floral, planty earthy richness. Smells like a spring morning. Tastes is somewhat disappointing after that... caramel malts are good, but the bitter is overpowering and not well balanced. I guess the taste is sharp, not smooth enough. Still an enjoyable brew. I wish i knew what the abv is, because i can taste that as well.

12 oz bottle via Mys Swap 4.0 (thanks j12601). Pours a dark copper with an average beige head. Not muc aroma here, maybe some toasted malts and mild earthy hops. Taste is not good. Pretty much tastes like a bland bitter red ale, with too many bittering hops, no flavoring hops and a bunch of ice tea (overdose of crystal malt). A very astringent metallic finish/aftertaste. A bit of sourness as well, in the earky stages of infection methinks. Not a good beer and an even worse IPA.

12 oz bottle. Peekskill Bev. NY. Well this beer lives up to it’s name in more ways than one. Apon opening this beer, it exploded all over my garage floor in a fountain of foam. And it has been chilling in the fridge for a few days. Besides all that. What was left of the beer was good. Nice coppery pour (all head) hops Ginger barley with a palet that stays with you for a while. Yummy goodness. This beer might make a good shotgun beverage. Enjoy.

A large, foamy, ecru head settles rockily over a thick, copper body with yeasty sediment in suspension. Caramel and floral hopping in the nose with a mild citrus note, low ice cream notes, Ovaltine-ish pale malt. (Do I detect Maris Otter?) Flavor with tea bitters well balanced with a strong caramel backing, has an English "bitter" feel to it which may be due to its age. A sweetness lingers with tangerines. Mid-bodied, almost hefty on the palate. I could session this, to be sure. ~~~~~~~~~~ Purchased June, 2007 from Oliver’s Beverage, Albany, NY, shared with Cornfield March, 2009.

Bottle. Amber pour. Aroma has quite a bit of malt and a fair amount of citrus and floral hops. Flavor is bitter and not that well balanced. Drinkable it is. Really well done it isn’t. Malts and hops seem to be battling instead of working together.
