Keegan Ales Super Kitty

Pours a cloudy orange-hued amber clour with a thick soapy tan head that clings to the glass in globs. The nose is as malty as it is hoppy with vinous notes, pepper, pine, orange zest, caramel and wood. The flavour is initially chewy caramel and peppery, orange zest, then rounding out with pine, cocoa and vanilla (wood). There are plenty of typical vinous malts, too. The palate is full and softly carbonated, with booze coming through more as it warms, though it is hidden well given the abv. Good, but maybe not worth the $30 a bottle.

The color is a nice cloudy brown with a redish tint to it. Although it was not poured into a trappist there was a small head and there was some minor laceing along the sides of the glass. The nose has some nice dark fruit esters and you can really smell the honey that was used. The initial flavor is full of spice and you can taste the oak on the side walls of your mouth. The booze is not hidden at all in this beer. I personally like the caramel sweetness that complements mass quanity of booze on your tounge.

On tap at the brewery. Nice full aroma f rich malts and hops. Some almost oily residue on glass, some lacing. Blanced taste of hopps and caramle malts. Not too complex but smooth. A bit hot and warming which I enjoyed. Pretty surprising.

Bottle #120/ 250, thanks Maria for sharing this one. Cloudy orange colour with an off white head. Malty, toffee sweet aroma with oak and vanilla notes. Malty, toffee and light fruity flavor with hints of oak. Light dry, sweet finish. Nice wellbalanced oak aged strong ale.

Bottle. 100cl. Bottle #120 of 250. [Tasting @ Ølbaren, Copenhagen]. Unclear medium amber orange color with a average, frothy, fair lacing, mostly diminishing, off-white head. Aroma is moderate to heavy malty, roasted, vintage, flowers, cask wood, oak, alcohol. Flavor is moderate to heavy sweet with a long to average duration. Body is medium to full, texture is oily - syrupy, carbonation is flat. Very nice. (110308)
