Poured a very pale clear gold with a thin crackling head that disappeared in an instant. Smells of fresh apple juice, slightly tart. The flavor was crisp and dry, lots of fresh apple flavor, slight band-aid characteristic. I’ve only had a couple ciders so I’m no expert but this was half decent. The aroma was sharp and crisp apple. The flavor was dry, faintly nutty and had a light tart apple presence with a touch of vinegar in the finish. More dry than I am used to but enjoyable. | 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Jun 2, 2009 22oz Bottle at the brewpub. Aroma casts a slightly almost vinegar-like snap of clear, filtered apple cider. Plain apples. Pours an amazingly clear and pale peachy gold, with a faint wisp of perfectly white head. Flavor varies. First, some generic fermented cider and sulfites. Then a peculiar kind of aged apple skin, almost rotty and rubbery sensation that’s not entirely pleasing. Then a fade into a bit of biting metallic sensation. I’m not particularly enjoying this, but then I don’t drink many ciders or fermented beverages with sulfites. I did appreciate the sweetness level. It seemed rather dry, although my champagne-fancying thought it ebbed sweet but was just a touch away from being a perfect, apple version of champagne. She did happily quaff the entire bottle. I’m excited they’ve turned a local apple orchard into a cider element at Otto’s. So, keep up the work!
