12. Another 60 cents an ounce release in a schmancy black and gold bottle with a triangle on it. Again, maybe not quite worthy of these prices, but certainly a very fine beer. Pours a flat matte black with a loose, sudsy dark tan head that leaves webs of stringy lace on the way down the sides of the glass. Nice big roasty kona coffee nose. I’ve always found kona coffee to be just a curiosity as coffees go, rather than a real satisfaction, but that sweet nuttiness is just working in concert with other things here, rather than trying to convince you it’s a satisfying cup of coffee, so, here, it’s pretty freakin’ awesome. There’s actually even a bit of char underneath here. The body shows some medium depth, with just the softest, cottoniest carb. There’s toasty coconut, there’s roast and char, there’s sweet nutty coffee. It’s rich and decadent and delicious. Good stuff.

Bottle. Pours black with a small tan head. Aroma of roasted nuts, coffee, bitter roasted malt, and a touch of coconut too. Flavor of sweet roasted malt, residual sugars and lactose initially with a bitter roasted malt finish. Pretty tasty and quite drinkable. This one lived up to my expectations. 8/4/8/4/15 [3.9/5]

12oz bottle sampled at the DC Local tasting. Pours a watery, opaque black with a creamy tan head. Aroma is big on the coffee, spicy, earthy. Flavor is sweet, caramel, coffee, nuts. If there’s a coconut flavor in there then it’s extremely light. Sweet finish, medium bodied. Well balanced.

coffee and roasted malt dominates aroma. all three featured ingredients really shine through in different stages of the beer, particularly the macadamia, which lends a silky, creamy, nutty element in the finish.

Aroma was charred wood, and coffee bean, and that dominated, flavor was pretty much the same,no one in our group picked up any coconut, maybe a touch of some kind of nut, but otherwise this is simply a pleasing coffee porter
