Commercial Description:
We start with a base of Crisp Maris Otter malted barely, a little crystal malt, and a touch of wheat. We then hop with a single variety of hop during the entire brew length. Very unique flavor profiles developed with these big IPA's. Coming in with loads of bitterness and alcohol by volume it will tantalize your tongue and warm your soul.

19-Jan-08 (Draft: Connoisseur’s Session, 2008 Great Alaskan Beer and Barley Wine Festival in Anchorage, AK) Lightly sweet, grainy malts provide a good base for the moderately bitter 75-IBU Simcoe hops which are quite earthy, floral and piney. Earthy and piney nose offers modest grainy malt notes in the background. Light-medium bodied, clean finish, easy drinking. Dark straw and clear in appearance. The white, bubbly head settles to a sprinkle and bubbly ring. I tend to like Simcoe hops, but between the two single-hop IPAs presented at this festival, I enjoyed the Centennial a bit more. This was decent though.

Draft pint at Cafe Amsterdam. Hazy but bright orange. The head is airy and poofy, settling into a gluey slush. The aroma is caged, but the beer delivers a nice tight citrusy sting, with an acidic thing cloying in the mouth for a while just like a good juicy fruit. (#3299, 1/20/2008)
