douglas88 (726), Salt Lake City, Utah, USA Mar 25, 2008 Handbottle shared by footbalm, thanks Eric. Pours a light ruby with a thin white head. The aroma suggested a sweet and spicy Belgian Ale. There was a quite sour/bitter aspect to the taste, along with a a nice spice and sweet malt. Really smooth with almost no alcohol presence. Quite nice. footbalm (1211), Salt Lake City, Utah, USA Mar 25, 2008 Hand bottle from.. who else? Richard. pours a coppery amber with just a fine cream colored layer of foam. this was a pretty complex brew. I was surprised by the mix of flavors here. Some toffee from the malts. Thanks Richard. Odeed (1480), Bakersfield, California, USA Mar 5, 2008 (handbottle from irishboy)orange body with a nice white head that leaves lacing.aroma is nice and complex.cloves, coriander, allspice, yeast, caramel malts, and sage.flavor is much of the same with some orange peel, citrus hops, and mint.this competes with any belgian strong i have ever had. Enniskillen (1551), Port Angeles, Washington, USA Mar 5, 2008 Handbottle from IrishBoy. Brownish amber slightly foggy with a thin cream colored head. Aroma is a light clove spiciness, yeast, caramel, and toffee. Taste is caramel, light yeastiness, dried fruit, light alcohol. Pretty decent example of a belgian strong coming from a US brewery. IrishBoy (2124), Bakersfield, California, USA Feb 17, 2008 Growler from the brewpub; Nose of sweet cloves, caramel, and light yeastiness; hazy copper with a medium beige head; flavor has the corriander, some mild hop bitterness, and caramelized sugary taste. Finish has a bit of hops. Alcohol completely covered. Good quality BSA but not great, I am waiting to see what the brett-chardonnay BA version is like? That one could be superb!
