Medium to full body with a buzz. Taste like the nose; dark roast most prevalent, bittersweet chocolate, a touch of prune, grapefruit and lime peel. Inky, ashy finish. Great with raw littlenecks. Dark brown with a finger of creamy tan head. Aroma is roasty and sweet with milk chocolate. Taste is rich with espresso and lightly roasty, more chocolate, and a bittersweet tail. Great mouthful, balanced in flavors, and overall quite pleasant. tokyogoat (505), San Diego, California, USA Oct 26, 2009 Pour is black as night.
Nose is huge on coffee and chocolate.
Taste is lots of dry cocoa, coffee, grainy, with an acrid finish. SDalkoholic (1186), Chula Vista, California, USA Oct 19, 2009 Bottle from South Bay Drugs: In the nose, an instant gratification of dark roasted malts and a faint Arabic coffee aroma in the background is a good first impression. Once poured, I could tell no head was going to develop, so I gave it a more violent pour to create some head. After, head formed it was a gentle patch of khaki colored foam while the liquid was a solid dark brown color almost black. The flavor is of a slightly sweet dark chocolate with a taste of a premium coffee bean, and has perfectly roasted malt that enriches the cocoa elements further. danielcurtis81 (879), San Diego, California, USA Sep 22, 2009 Served from a 12oz bottle that I picked up at Hi-Time. Pours a rich brown black with a micro off white head. Flavors and aromas are sugary malts, lactose, chocolate. The mouth is a little thin and watery but the flavors are nice. awiseman01 (318), Indianapolis, Indiana, USA Sep 22, 2009 Bottle thanks to danielcurtis81 on his wedding week. Pours pitch black with some unfilteredness. Nose is mostly sweet chocolate malt. Taste is thin an smooth without much depth. Decently pleasing flavor of chocolate and sweet malt, but nothing that excites.
