Lots of layered lacing. Aroma is a light roasted malt and faint herbal hops. Flavor is pleasantly sweetened toasted malt, chocolate, light esters, and light coffee. Very nice. Medium body. Finish is creamy with a slight chocolate aftertaste. A very nice stout. Thanks Richard. SSSteve (2090), Atlanta, Georgia, USA

| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Dec 17, 2007 This beer poured with a black color and a beige head. The aroma consisted of chocolate, coffee, and some dark fruits. The flavor was only slightly sweet, more sour I thought, with some grapes, coffee, raisins, and coffee. The mouthfeel was sweet and "carbonation" as I wrote. Overall a decent stout. CaptainCougar (5521), Rockville, Maryland, USA
| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Dec 15, 2007 Pours an oily opaque with a spotty-lacing dark tan head. Aroma of sweet, earthy dark caramel and chocolate malts with a touch of coffee. Starts fairly full and dark caramely sweet with some rich dark chocolate bittersweetness throughout toward a lightly sweet, lingering, drier finish. A nice sweet stout. boboski (1095), Alabama, USA
| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Nov 13, 2007 Totally black, opaque shiny pour, looks incredibly appealing, with a thin off-white head and wispy lacing. Sweet roast and chocolate usher in the aroma, along with coffee, raw grains. Nothing seems overdone but everything is enjoyable. Alcohol is just barely apparent. The flavor is highly sweet. The roasty element is still nice, and while adequate, it’s entirely encompassed by heavy chocolatey sweetness. Caramel, marshmallow and lactic acidity fold in. Sweetness is medium, rostiness low-mild. Finishes smooth and sweet. The mouthfeel is lowly carbonated and medium bodied. ¾ (4999), Colorado, USA
| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Nov 6, 2007 22oz bottle thanks to IrishBoy. Huge creamy medium dark tan head atop a black body, building tall but the beer itself isn’t overcarbonated. Nose is part whipped mocha cream, part roast, with ashy dried cracker notes. Smooth and creamy up front, flavors prettry straightforward roast, bitter chocolate, slight mocha and cream note, and maybe a bit too much of a lactic yeast quality. Overall it’s an absolutely solid stout, with a dry, rough finish.
