| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 16/20 | Mar 2, 2008 Bomber bottle from Irishboy and served in my Karmeliet big ole snifter: Brown with reddish highlight topped y a big foamy off-white head which left good lace upon the glassware. The aroma has notes of rye bread, caramel, walnut, pine nuts, fig, light molasses syrup, root beer soda, and a hint of peat moss. The taste is shockingly more bitter and displays raw toasted grains than expected. A bit of leafy piney qualities over a layer of heavy caramelized malt towards the spiced finish. Very rounded palate IMO. The mouth feel is sprite and biting with a chewy dry finish. There is enough depth here to challenge the harden ratebeerian, now only if the palate was a tad heavier this would really rock.. ryan (1781), Beltsville, Maryland, USA

Medium/full body is soft with light carbonation. kmweaver (2501), Sebastopol, California, USA
| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Mar 1, 2008 22oz bottle, courtesy of Odeed. Thanks, Jake! Pours a bright, dark reddish-brown tea color; off-white head with fine-bubbled lacing. Lots of tannic, tea-like malts and rye and brown sugar in the aroma. Medium-to-full mouthfeel: tea-like / wet malts, toasted malts, and tannic brown sugar; a bit chalky and overly dry; hard to drink a lot of this. Medium finish: tea, sugar, and brown sugar. | 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Feb 26, 2008 NorCal Feb ’08 - The beer is brown in color, light brown foamy cap with about 2 fingers in thickness. Aroma is lightly hopped, brown sugar, sasparilla, light roasted malts and a yeasty/breadyness angle I found enjoyable. Smooth mouthfeel. Flavor is mostly on par with the aroma...sweet malts, lightly roasted, some anise with a floral hop character. A nice holiday beer. DoubleBubble (107), Mescal Lakes (wherever that is), Arizona, USA
