Poured slightly hazy medium orange with a short cap of off-white head. The aroma picked up strained caramel supporting citrus (orange and grapefruit), pine, and grassy hoppage.. on the succulent side with a bit of bite to it. The flavor had caramel and sweeter, juicy citrus fruits (primarily grapefruit) supporting more citrus and some pine bitterness.. resiny citrus bitterness and some alcohol warmth on the finish.. rather well-balanced. Full on the palate with ideal higher carbonation.. tangy, resiny finish was refreshing. Very good stuff! Soonah (975), Tulsa, Oklahoma, USA

The pour was a turbid brown with lighter gold and orange highlights sitting just beneath a two-finger tall off-white head. Good, sticky, web-like lacing. The aroma was of a fairly standard California IPA, sugary malts that are quickly trampled by citrus and pine hops. Manages to find a bit of balance. The flavor is a bit more out of whack, with the citrusy hops dominating a front end of light caramel and a finish of floral and pine. The mouthfeel was above average. I think I’m developing a soft spot for these California IPA’s. GG (1678), NorCal, California, USA
| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Dec 20, 2007 December NorCal tasting - Kern River Brewing? Never heard of ’em. It’s a decent beer though. An aroma of citrus and pine but there’s a little more than that. I also got a good dose of passion fruit and other tropical fruits. Appearance was a typical solid hazy amber color. Mouthfeel was on the mineral water side, a bit like drinking Alka Seltzer. The flavor was like chewing on hop pellets soaked in Kern’s passion fruit nectar. Not bad though. JMFG (1514), Florida, USA
| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Nov 29, 2007 Dark copper-orange color with a thin off-white head that makes a nice thick creamy head if roused. Nice minty grapefruity nose with light pepper component. Citric flavor with light malts below and moderate hop finish. Not nearly as aggressive as it smells, but well done overall. Nice aroma of straw-infused pine with hints of grapefruit and apricot. Flavor is very malty, with a nice infusion of grapefruit to balance out the cereal. Average mouthfeel. Great "Light" IPA. | 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Nov 26, 2007 Courtesy of jayg. Pours a deep clear gold with copper core and off white head. The aroma has a nice pine hop character followed by some malt sweetness. The taste has a decent load of pine hop bitterness. I also get a mild maltiness hidden under there somewhere. The taste is mostly pine hop bitterness though. It ends pretty darn thin. nolankowal (855), Columbus, Ohio, USA
