The aroma is soft and fruity with a nectar sweetness, lots of lemon zest, and flowers. Very balanced flavor with a soft bitterness and clean, dry malt flavors. Lots of fruity citrus hop flavor, with oranges standing out. For how big this is, it was pretty delicate on the palate; not sweet or boozy. Almost up there with hop father as my favorite of the day. nickd717 (1347), Palo Alto, California, USA
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Aug 10, 2009 Just outstanding? Well, almost. Some of my BA buddies loved this one. I thought it was good but not great. Orange-amber color with an off-white head. Aroma of light fruits and citrus/pine hops. Flavor of caramel malt, light fruits, and grapefruity, resinous hops on the finish. Not too "hoppy" per se, but rather more fruity. Lots of Simcoe hops it seems, which they apparently used for bittering, flavor, AND dry-hopping. Palate medium with soft carbonation. jkwalking05 (1483), Arlington, Texas, USA

| 4.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 9/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Jun 15, 2009 Light tan with very little head. Strong, very characteristic Simcoe aroma - pine and orange. Soft malt initially in flavor, followed by a sawtooth hops assault. Big on the Simcoe - almost like pine resin. Bitter, fruity finish, soft carbo. Excellent. furiousdman (5), Bakersfield, California, USA does not count | 4.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 10/10 | 3/5 | 10/10 | 5/5 | 18/20 | Jun 13, 2009 A delicious drink of the Earth. It delivers an enticingly arranged flotilla of foam on top of an amber brown body. It pervades the olfactory, tempting one to sniff rather than to drink the beer (I actually caught my brother doing the former, but I convinced him that all good things must end). The smell is grassy and floral. The taste is resinous, not too bitter, slightly acidic, and wonderfully hoppy. This might be my favorite IPA.
