I used to drink it all the time a few years back, along with ESB from my local Brewery, I now tend to drink Lagers of around 4.0 per cent Volume though. furiousdman (5), Bakersfield, California, USA does not count | 4.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 10/10 | 3/5 | 10/10 | 5/5 | 18/20 | Jun 13, 2009 A delicious drink of the Earth. It delivers an enticingly arranged flotilla of foam on top of an amber brown body. It pervades the olfactory, tempting one to sniff rather than to drink the beer (I actually caught my brother doing the former, but I convinced him that all good things must end). The smell is grassy and floral. The taste is resinous, not too bitter, slightly acidic, and wonderfully hoppy. This might be my favorite IPA. IrishBoy (2718), Bakersfield, California, USA

Nose was very hoppy kind of like Moylan’s Hopsicle with some citrus added; Hazy dark amber with a medium off-white head; Flavor had nice hoppiness with a bitter finish and a nice mouthfeel. hopdawg (2), California, USA does not count | 4.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 5/5 | 18/20 | Jan 14, 2007 A great California IPA. The name say’s it all. The citrus and Piney nose alert you to a unique spicy hop flavor with a nice balance of malt undertones that giveway to a longlasting bitter grapefruit finish. Best enjoyed at the brewpub fresh as can be. coldmeat23 (233), Tulsa, Oklahoma, USA
| 4.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 4/5 | 9/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Nov 18, 2009 This pours a dark, golden, yellow with orange tinting. A tiny head of white foam rides the liquid, all the way down the glass. Lacing is full and quite sticky.
Big presence of citrus hops. Loads of grapefruit, both yellow and ruby-red. A good amount of orange and lemon rinds. A good level of pine oil. Nice level of floral hops, also. Definite hints of caramel and sweet malts are here, but they appear to be pretty deep.
The taste is way more balanced than I anticipated it to be. This is an equal playing field for both the hops and the malts. Mild levels of caramel and brown sugar sweetness mingle with the citrus and floral hop notes. The sweet and bitter don’t cancel each other, so much as they compliment each other.
It lives up to its name.
This is medium-bodied with a light level of carbonation. No real presence of creaminess to speak of, but it’s very smooth and tasty.
This is a damn fine IPA, as long as you aren’t looking for a palate shredder. Great balance, taste and enjoyability.
Recommended.

Cloudy golden ale with a small, creamy, white head. Excellent retention. The earthy, fruity nose is bursting at the seams with tropical and fuzzy fruits. Full-bodied and creamy with lively carbonation. Sweet, but balanced by juicy hop bitterness. Lengthy, bittersweet finish. Kudos to mcbackus for hosting the Spring Gansta Fling and Bling and for providing this beer! grant (792), Long Beach, CA/Colorado Springs, Colorado, USA
| 4.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 9/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Jun 15, 2009 Light tan with very little head. Strong, very characteristic Simcoe aroma - pine and orange. Soft malt initially in flavor, followed by a sawtooth hops assault. Big on the Simcoe - almost like pine resin. Bitter, fruity finish, soft carbo. Excellent.
