Commercial Description:
Cold Smoke Scotch Ale earned a silver medal in 2002 and a gold medal in the 2007 NABA brewfest. Formulated with Montana grown 2-row barley, northwest Goldings hops, and lotsa love, this hearty ale drinks very smooth. Not bitter at all and not too sweet either. Novice beer drinkers have been known to take a taste and then say, “WOW! That’s not what I expected… that’s GOOD!” A hint of roasted barley lends a slight coffee-like smoky finish. It packs a 6.5% abv punch. Perfect after a day of rippin’ lines on area or your favorite back country getaway. Available in 16 oz aluminum cans. 6.5 % abv (alcohol by volume); 11 IBUs (International Bittering Units)

Can @ YEHA. Aroma a bit sweet and smokey. Malt background. Taste is similar. Sweet and smokey. Sugary like candy smoke. A bit dry too but not bad overall.

16.9 oz can. Slightly sour, yet toasty and lightly malted nose. Bready taste, along with heavy peat, very burnt smoke, and charcol. Pretty intense on those flavors, as much else is covered up. Missing something. Decent for what it is though.

Can from shigadeyo. Poured dark brown color with an average fizzy brown head that was mostly lasting with good lacing. Moderate toasted sweet malty aroma. Medium body with sticky texture. Heavy roasted bittersweet flavor with a medium bittersweet finish of moderate duration. This is a standout canned beer.

Can: Dark Brown, although a few shades lighter than Pepsi or Coke, moderate fizzy off-white head, few rings of lacing.   Soft smoked malt nose, peat, campfire, ash, and some biscuitiness as well.   Doesn’t translate to the tongue as well.   Some sourish pale fruit with a very minor malt base.   Notes of peat, ash, and campfire are even softer on the tongue than I would have thought based on the nose.   Fairly sweet, almost to the point that it does get a little bit cloying.   Sorta falls off on the backside.   Does have a moderate to full body and mouthfeel, well close to full at least.   Fairly clean finish, some dark pitted fruit emerges here.   Needs more black and/or chocolate malt.   The Smoke is there, but it needs a little more broader of a brush to get all the aspects of a Scotch style Ale.   Decent, a light (in flavor) example of the style.   It could stand to have some bitterness because as is there isn’t much there.   Not bad tho.

Can from kyzr. Aroma is chocolate malt, some smoke, some roast. Pours dark brown with mahagony hues and a thin tan head. Flavor is more chocolatey malts with some smoke and roast as well. Pretty good. As it warmed the alcohol became somewhat noticable, but still this was a solid drinkable brew. Nice stuff. Its damn cool that its in a can as well. I wonder why other breweries dont do this as well, it seems like a pretty good packaging option.

Can from Krzy. Dark ruby color with small tan head. Aroma of sweet malt and caramel. Sweet tasting with roasted malt, caramel, light bandaid, and light smoke. Medium/full bodied. As it warms it becomes richer and thicker. No bad, better then I thought it would be. Soild beer, which just happens to come in a can. Thanks, Mitch.
