| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Feb 18, 2008 From the can. This was a really nice scotch ale, while not as bold in flavors as something like Skull Splitter, this was a very well built sessionable scotch. Subtle smoke and earthy caramel flavors balanced out by a fruity and peaty finish, delicate hops balance but don’t distract from the malts which are the real stars of the show. This beer could really finds its place in the PDX market, there aren’t enough good scotch ales here. This is what I want when i’m camping. presario (3009), Calgary, Alberta, Canada
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Nov 20, 2008 Good beer in a can. Rich copper look with a nice creamy head. A heavy swirl of the glass mixes up a nice aroma. Rich spicy malt and hop scent. A nice beer. Starting sweetness. Dryer finish. Nice malty flavour with a touch of peat. A good session beer. A couple of jugs would be nice for a hockey game. ChainGangGuy (2613), Kennesaw, Georgia, USA
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Jun 2, 2008 Appearance: Pours a clear, dark garnet-hued body wtih a small, bubbly, whiteish head.
Smell: Peaty, malty aroma of caramel candy, toasted nuts, and even some chocolate.
Taste: Toasty, nutty malts with a mild sweetness. Light peat character. Sprinkle of cocoa powder. Mildly earthy bitterness. Slight taste of pitted fruits. Mildly sweet, relatively clean finish.
Mouthfeel: Medium-bodied. Medium carbonation.
Drinkability: Not a bad lil’ scotch ale, though I could stand and would appreciate a ramped up peaty smokiness. jake65 (1725), Williston, North Dakota, USA
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Mar 24, 2009 Can: Pours amber with a large, creamy sand colored head. Rich aroma of malts, peat, some sweetness, and a little smokey. Smooth taste with a malty sweet character, smoke, a little roasty and dry, ligh bitters, and a bit of the proclaimed "coffee tail." Not as sweet and fruity as some scotch ales; more earthy, floral, and smokey. Very easy to drink.
