douglas88 (1556), Salt Lake City, Utah, USA Oct 10, 2009 Growler thanks to Toby, man this growler is at least two months old- seriously I should have drank it sooner, but I wanted to share it, and wow, this beer is fine. Opened with a massive release of carbonation, pours a pure black color with a massive thick beige head. A sweet roasted malt nose, some vegetal hemp notes. A sweet unusual flavor, strong herbs almost like drinking weed. Toasted malts, earth and ash. I don’t know what to say except the hemp flavor dominates in an awesome way, herbal like a wicked medicine. Very interesting. As to the state of the growler...I have no idea why this is so good after so long. marcus (1821), Sacramento, California, USA Oct 9, 2009 On tap at the brewery. This dark brown beer poured with a decent tan head and a smoky malt aroma. There is a carbonated chocolate and treacle flavor with a little hop bitterness at the finish. BuckeyeBoy (1639), Boise, Idaho, USA Aug 22, 2009 Brought back from Toby’s great Montana Growler round up. Pours out a brown topped with a small tan head. Aroma was of light smoke and roast malts. Taste was more of the roast malts and little spice. ditmier (1020), Boise, Idaho, USA Jul 30, 2009 Growler - Thanks Toby! - Pours a thin dk brown with a small tan head...aroma is roasty malt, smoke and somesweet dk malt...flavour is similar, cococa, roast, molassas and a bit of dirt...nicely balanced, liked this one... PghBrewer (10), Denver, Colorado, USA Jan 25, 2009 Ingoring the fact that the guy(s) serving the beer a the berwery was a complete a-hole...this is one tasty beer. Spent a couple days in Missoula and would have gone back if not for the poor service. Dark coffee black. Very thick with some sweetness. A bit of ester-ness. joebrew (608), Farewell Minny; Hello Puyallup, Washington, USA Aug 8, 2007 Thanks to Skyview for sharing. Pours a dark roast coffee like black with really no head. Super thick dark malty sweetness, as well as some banana and toffee dominate the palate and the beer from beginning to end is very sweet. Skyview (4007), Papoose Jct., Minnesota, USA Jul 19, 2007 Picked up single 16-oz can at the brewery’s taproom in Missoula, Montana. Pours a dark opaque near black brew with a thin tan head that dissolves to a tan ring. Aroma of roasted dark malt, dark bittersweet chocolate, some mocha, and a touch of flowery hops. Taste is smooth, creamy, full bodied with some roasted malt and earthy herbal flavors. Finish is smooth, slick with a light chocolate and herbal spice aftertaste. Hemp in the beer? Man was I wise not to take a return trip through Utah to bring this back to Minnesota. That Utah State Trooper would have made things quite difficult for me. JK (2945), Richfield, Minnesota, USA Jul 18, 2007 A very simple beer. From a can. Black color. The aroma is simple roasted malt, and the flavor is lightly roasted with only a hint of coffee. No flaws at least.
