Keweenaw Chain Drive Pale Ale

On tap at the brewpub. Gummy, juicy orange and honey heavy aroma. Strong with raw, green hop character. Pours a dark copper-honey-amber, with some haze and a whitish. Flavor is juicy, but a little peculiar. Some odd yeast fusels, clashes a bit with the sticky hop resins. Then a harsh, heavy brash bitterness kind of throws it off. Maybe a bit too sticky sweet. Otherwise, nice hop flavor profile.

On draught at the brewery/brewpub in downtown Houghton, Northern Michigan. Pours a semi-clear caramel amber colored brew with a decent size off-white head that has some nice retention and excellent lacing. Aroma of caramel malt, a touch of apple and some mild citrus/grassy hops. Taste is medium bodied, some dry caramel malt, with a grapefruit zest. Finish is semi-dry, hoppy with a lingering mild bitterness that slowly disappears.
