Commercial Description:
Nihonshu-do: +4 | Acidity: 1.4
Kurakagami is exclusively brewed for the famous Japanese sake competition. This brilliant Daiginjo (Yamada Nishiki rice polished down to 35%) has been awarded prestigious gold prizes. Please enjoy the rich and well rounded flavors of this golden Sake. Judges Tasting Notes: Fresh, lacy notes of honeydew melon and peach skin (classic daiginjo fruitiness), wet stone and anise seed; silky, almost oily, textured, buoyantly balanced feel of tropical fruit, finishing with an emphatic dryness.

Very pale yellow. Aromas of melon or bananas. Flavors are mellow. Kind of a tingly melon. Chocolate as well. A touch nutty. Warms up as it goes down. Very pleasing.

Light beige color, oily coating. Aroma of bananas, humidity, pears, peach, honey dew melon & lots of anise. The flavor has a light sweetness that is so subtle, almost like +1 or +2 on the meter. The tail is warm but brief & dry, a fantastic Daiginjo.

Mostly clear with a dlight yellow hue. Mildly sweet and acloholic aroma. The flavor is slightly fruity, maybe some melon and apple. One of the better Sakes I have had, and my first Sake rating.

Bottle. Almost clear yellow appearance. Sterile aroma, with hints of pencil-eraser and alcohol. Very smooth, with alcohol and pears making appearances in the flavor. Good stuff!

Hint of yellow with tall legs. Very fruity in aromas with a mild light sweet rice. Flavors of vanilla, melon, plum and nectarines. Light and nearly oily in feel. Finishes clean and a mild rice and licorice touch.

slightly off clear color, the aroma was mildly sweet and fruity with a decent flowery side coming through.the flavor is sweet and fruity with a mild alcohol taste in the end but not enough to disstract you from the fruity side of this brew.Very nice brew and smooth enough to make it an easy drinker.

RBSG Portland 2004. Virtually colorless. Aroma of flowers, grain, white peach, pumpkin, pear. Flavor is moderately sweet, lightly acidic. Finish is lightly sweet, moderately acidic. Light to medium body, watery texture, flat carbonation, moderately alcoholic. One of the few attractive and enjoyable sakes I’ve tried (though I haven’t tried too many, especially in the upper tier; the typical aroma/flavor profile in sake doesn’t appeal to me much, so I’d sooner put $50 into a red wine). Nice balance and pleasant aroma. Domo arigato to Jordan for letting me sample some of this!

Pale green tones. Complex fruity and licorice aroma with a hint of alcohol. In the mouth it becomes a star, rich licorice flavours blending with fruit and a hint of almonds. Silky texture. Very good.
